The BenQ EW3280U is a 4K UHD monitor. Compared to an ordinary TV, it can be used for both couch and desktop setups.
The monitor comes with 4K resolution and in multiple color modes. It can serve as a professional-quality monitor that is compatible with Rec.709 or DCI-P3 color spaces – and it has a 10-bit color depth for HDR content.

BenQ EW3280U 32-inch 4K UHD HDRI entertainment monitor review
Design

The EW3280U is a simple, space-saving monitor that’ll complement any work or home environment. The matte black cabinet and bezel are stunning, while the bronze-colored base offers a modern contrast. The monitor measures 20.6″ by 28.6″ and weighs 17.9 pounds when attached to its stand. The stand is suitable for most models of the monitor, but the lack of tilt, swivel, and height adjustments might be an issue depending on how often you rotate your screen
Resolution
The 32-inch, 10-bit in-plane switching (IPS) screen has a high resolution of 3,840 by 2,160 pixels with a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. It also has amazing pixel density at 138 ppi which is fine for entertainment like gaming and movies.
Connector
The panel offers one DisplayPort 1.2 and two HDMI 2.0 ports, as well as a USB-C input, which allows you to easily accept video signals. It provides 60 watts of charge capability too!
Audio
The EW3280U has an excellent audio system. It packs a 5-watt subwoofer and two 2-watt speakers, which offer excellent bass response and good treble response.
Brightness
The BenQ’s luminance is 350 nits (candelas per meter squared) and the contrast ratio is 1,000:1. They’re similar to an IPS panel that you’d expect to find in a good quality monitor.
I measured the brightness of the display at 207.6 nits in Standard mode & 338 nits with DisplayHDR turned on, which is higher than its rating. The contrast ratio for the display was 1,087:1
HDRI
HDRi is BenQ’s own technology designed to better display HDR content – It also tries to improve contrast and dynamic range (the ability to render subtle gradations of light or shadow). While HDR improves the contrast and dynamic range of a scene, HDRi strives to increase them even more.
HDRi (High Dynamic Range) produces a better, more balanced picture. It automatically adjusts color balancing and saturation to suit the displayed content.
Refresh rate
The EW3280U is a powerful budget gaming monitor that doesn’t offer a lot of features. That said, it does have an AMD FreeSync adaptive-sync technology, with a refresh rate of 60Hz and can support up to 144Hz natively.
Performance

The EW3280U has a slightly lower ANSI (intra-image) result at 879.5:1, but that’s not far from typical IPS monitors, and the Aorus and Razor monitors have slightly better numbers here. The EW3280U isn’t as vibrant as some other models, but it has many other strengths that make
Watching a 4K movie via the EW3280U was another great showcase for the HDTV, with detail that beamed at me like my more expensive 4K HDR TV. The monitor supports 4K video with HDR10 support and at a movie-friendly 24P cinematic frame rate.
The BenQ EW3280U is a great TV replacement when you don’t have a lot of space or your favorite shows are on the go. You can plug in any streaming device, like your Roku or Amazon Fire TV box, and enjoy hours of entertainment.
